Democracy Unites Us Announces No Kings Motor March

Hundreds will drive for the June 14 Nationwide Day of Defiance

(Tucson, AZ) On Saturday, June 14, from 3 pm to 5 pm, Democracy Unites Us, in collaboration with concerned citizens and activists, will gather at Reid Park for a “Motor March,” part of the national NO KINGS Nationwide Day of Defiance. Hundreds of decorated cars will form a caravan, driving a 13-mile route through midtown, during Donald Trump’s birthday military parade in Washington D.C. The route will also include rally points for people who prefer to protest from the sidewalk. Route details and other information can be found at drivefordemocracy.com.

H.R. 1, known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” which recently passed in the House of Representatives, contain a provision that would severely restrict federal courts’ ability to enforce court orders, making it easier for the Trump administration to continue to ignore and violate them. If this provision becomes law, it will render many existing court orders unenforceable, particularly those that protect our constitutional rights. This unacceptable measure would remove one of the last remaining checks on Trump’s executive power, lurching the United States further into autocracy.

Phin Anderson, co-founder of Democracy Unites Us, stresses that “besides protesting Trump’s threat to the rule of law and our democracy, the nationwide “No Kings” protests are about the effort by Republicans in Congress to cut healthcare and other important programs to fund tax breaks for the wealthy.” Americans from across the political spectrum understand that this moment of danger requires us to put country before party and unite in defiance of this attempt to further concentrate power among a group of billionaire elites.

Democracy Unites Us (DUU) is a nonpartisan collaboration of several organizations, including the organizers of the Tesla and 50501 protests, Indivisible Tucson Action Alliance, Take Action Tucson, and Veterans for Peace. DUU welcomes people of all political affiliations who champion democratic values. DUU is committed to freedom, mutual respect, civil liberties, human rights, accountability in government, inclusion of minority groups, and non-violent protest, all while remaining independent from any political party. DUU’s mission is to defend democracy against the threat of MAGA authoritarianism, maintain the rule of law, and improve our system of government so that all Americans are more prosperous and free.
